Anxiety Symptoms over forty million people. Amongst the most common anxiety disorders include Social Anxiety Disorder, phobias, and Panic Disorder. Quality of life can deteriorate dramatically with such disorders.
People who suffer from these disorders may suffer from panic and anxiety attacks frequently which can disrupt normal day life. Panic attacks which are associated with panic disorder can be especially devastating for the sufferer.
Symptoms are many and varied depending on the sufferer. Stomach pains, a rushing heartbeat, sweating and a feeling of terror are common symptoms. Two highly disturbing symptoms are derealization and depersonalization.
It’s impossible to understand the full extent of the terror that is faced upon a sufferer. Their environment may seem distorted and unfamiliar. They may feel disconnected and spaced out like they’re in a dream.
Panic attacks can trigger regardless of mood and even during sleeping. A panic attack can come about at any time of the day. As attacks can be spontaneous, sufferers may feel scared to do everyday things. Day to day chores such as going out to the supermarket can seem impossible for a sufferer.
Another reason a panic disorder sufferer may avoid a certain place or situation is because of a previous bad experience. For instance, a sufferer previously has a panic attack whilst in a convenience store. The thought and anticipation of going back may trigger panic and anxiety symptoms.
Going back to the same store is likely to trigger a panic attack. Knowing that an attack can occur at anytime without warning makes life a living hell.
Anxiety and panic attacks differ in both symptoms and severity. Anxiety symptoms are often triggered by day to day stressors. Sufferers may experience a stress response which in turn increases feelings of anxiety.
All panic and anxiety disorders are treatable. In many cases, prescription medication is not necessary since there are natural alternatives. Alternative therapies such as CBT have been very successful.
